PGE Parking Plan

The NWDA would like your input regarding draft parking recommendations put forward by the City of Portland, Parking Operations Division regarding an event parking permit program for the MLS Timbers Soccer Season beginning at PGE Park in April, 2011. The draft proposal can be downloaded here:

PGE Parking Permit Program_Draft1

The potential impact on parking demand from events at PGE Park are outlined in the file below:

The best way to share your comments is to leave a comment by clicking on the link in the upper right of this post. It would be helpful to get your ideas about the boundary, time limits, cost, qualifications for obtaining a permit, and enforcement.

NWDA is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, January 20 to discuss potential solutions and seek as much neighborhood consensus as possible to share with Parking Operations. The meeting will be jointly hosted by the NWDA Planning, Parking, and Transportation Committees and will be held during the standing meeting time of the Planning Committee at 8 am in the Coho Theatre (2257 NW Raleigh Street).

NWDA BoD Agenda – 2010 12 13

The Slabtown Committee will make a motion for the Board to approve the following:

The NWDA Board of Directors supports the Slabtown Urban Design Concept as a planning tool that enhances and refines the Northwest District Plan. The Urban Design Concept does not modify or replace the NWDP for formal planning purposes, rather, it strives to influence public and private investment and development by communicating a neighborhood vision, aspirations, and priorities for the Slabtown area. It is intended to be flexible and leverage opportunities as they arise over time.

For more information about the Slabtown Urban Design Concept and public planning process, visit the Slabtown section of this website.

The proposed Slabtown Urban Design Concept is a large, graphics intensive file (40 Mb) that is too large to be posted on this website. If you would like to receive the file via email, please email ronaldjwalters@hotmail.com to request a copy.

Transportation Minutes – 12/1/10

Comments Off on Transportation Minutes – 12/1/10

NWDA Transportation Committee
Minutes for December 1, 2010, 6 p.m.

Members present: Greg Aldrich, Juliet Hyams, Ron Walters, Phil Selinger, Jeanne Harrison
Excused: Sharon Kelly
Guests: Nicole Comer

Ron reported that the Slabtown Plan will become a print-ready document that can be widely distributed once the board approves it.

Jeanne reported on the Pearl Access Committee. Mauricio LeClerk presented several options and potential traffic calming ideas. The one-way option is not acceptable to the Pearl with a few exceptions. Burnside-Couch is on hold, which may hold up the other decisions relating to changing traffic patterns. Traffic calming could proceed: two targets are 14th and Glisan (esp. around 13th).

Parking:

– Ron will encourage Ellis McCoy and John Bradley to schedule a soccer/GNA/parking mtg. (L zone).
– We need to figure out when/what Sam will report to council in Dec.
– We need a complete plan that includes estimates on soccer mode split, advertising.

Phil: The Fremont Bridge’s upper deck will be closed a few times next summer for resurfacing. More to follow.

The committee brainstormed new projects from our workplan. See attached.

We adjourned at 7:15. Next mtg. Jan. 5, 2011.

Respectfully submitted, Juliet Hyams
